Case Study - Athletic Trainers' Society of New Jersey

Overview

The Athletic Trainers' Society (ATSNJ) represents certified athletic trainers, athletic training students, physicians and other allied health care professionals in New Jersey. Its goal is to advance and improve the athletic training profession in New Jersey and ensure that athletes receive the best health care possible.

Thanks to a change in state law, athletic trainers are now permitted to provide service in settings beyond strictly schools, colleges and professional sports teams.

Objective

With opportunities for its members now vastly expanded, the ATSNJ sought to reintroduce itself to the public, appeal to target audiences, educate the public about the value of athletic training services in settings beyond strictly sports, and increase the society’s overall profile.

Tactics

Novita created a new, stylish logo for the group while preserving important symbolism in the old logo that represented the ATSNJ's role in the allied health field and commitment to New Jersey. Novita also built the group a new website. It now offers valuable ATSNJ resources for athletes, coaches and physicians that are easily accessible from the home page.

We also helped the ATSNJ execute several public relations initiatives, including an effort urging interscholastic and recreational youth sports programs to take specific measures to prevent further injury to young athletes who sustain a concussion or have sustained a concussion in the past.

Results

The ATSNJ’s new logo has helped fortify an image befitting this important category of allied health care professionals. The new website has attracted additional visitors who have accessed the site’s valuable health information resources.

We raised the group's public profile and credibility; a Congressional submitted invited ATSN to provide testimony during its investigation of sports concussions.
